Faith at Work – There is a Larger Reality

Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand,
or with the breadth of his hand marked off the heavens?
Who has held the dust of the earth in a basket,
or weighed the mountains on the scales and the hills in a balance? (Isa 40:12)

God is intimately present in all of his creation; at all times including your workplace with his inexhaustible power and love, yet God is not limited by time and space. His wisdom is there for your asking. He knows every truth about His creation, even the ones that haven’t been discovered yet. God’s authority is ruling over everything that happens at your organization. God is ruling in accordance with his loving, unchanging, unsearchable wisdom which is deeper and richer than we will ever grasp. While there is constant change happening around you, there is no change in God’s being, his moral principles, his attributes, his purposes, his motives or his promises or his love for you.

Your work and all the associated deadlines, pressures, powers, stressors and systems exist do not change the fact that God created the heavens and the earth. This world is established, firm and secure because the Lord robed in majesty and armed with strength is in complete control and is exalted above all his creation. Every task you do at work takes place amongst the dust of the earth that the Creator has weighed in a basket. Your workplace exists between the boundaries of the waters that God held in the hollow of his hand, and the mountains and hills that God weighed on the scales. (Isa 40:12). The tools you use for your work were shaped from raw materials that God created. The principles that govern your work are principles that were established by God when he created the universe.

People’s expectations of you, their love and acceptance, their manipulations, their complements and complaints, their truths, half-truths and outright lies do not change the fact that God gave each of them breath and the skills and talents they have. God in his unsearchable wisdom knows what he is doing when he places people in authority and establishes their boundaries. God created the thrones, powers, and systems of this world, and holds the wealth of this world in his hands. The Lord robed in majesty and armed with strength is in control of every aspect of your workplace.  The power of God’s love will always triumph over the love of power.

God isn’t a department, machine or computer, but a reigning, reciprocating, righteous, living, loving Lord and Father who you can have a relationship with in your workplace.

Salvation Accomplished

Jesus is able to save completely those who come to God through him (Heb 7:25)

Relax! Your salvation is more than a historical fact, it is a perpetual present reality, and a firm assurance for your future. Jesus saves you completely, his power knows no limits, and his love knows no boundaries. No supplements required. You don’t need to look anywhere else or try anything else. Your salvation is complete!

Rejoice! For you have found a high priest who is qualified to understand your weaknesses. You will be tempted. Life is challenging. Feelings change. But you have a certain hope that Jesus your eternal high priest is interceding for you with your Heavenly Father right this moment for every aspect of your life. He will never fail you or forsake you.

When you feel all alone you can come to God, because Jesus your high priest is continuously in God’s presence. You don’t have to worry that the line will be busy or that Jesus has gone for coffee. In God’s presence Jesus is constantly conversing with his Father who hears and grants Jesus’ requests on your behalf. When you feel like the life has been sucked out of you, Jesus has unlimited strength to renew your spirit. When you feel disqualified, Jesus your loving high priest intercedes on your behalf so that you can know that you are always acceptable in God’s presence. When you feel discouraged you can look to Jesus who has the authority and unlimited resources to supply grace and mercy in your time of need.

Praise the Lord, for his holiness; for living a life fully pleasing and faithful to his Father so that he can now intercede on your behalf. With a grateful heart give thanks that Jesus’ life and conduct was blameless so that nothing disqualified him from being your high priest so that you can know salvation right now where you live and work. Keep your eyes focused on the sinless beauty of your risen Savior who is exalted above the heavens, Jesus, who did not allow anything remotely impure to mar his life; for now he is able to decisively and powerfully act in the present on your behalf.

“Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain,
to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength
and honor and glory and praise!”
“To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb
be praise and honor and glory and power,
for ever and ever!” (Rev 5:12,13)

Thank you for your dynamic life of hope!

We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. (Heb 6:19)

As a pilgrim who feeds on the goodness of the promises of God with unwavering faith and steadfast endurance, you are inspiring your brothers and sisters to continue to live a life of righteousness, holiness and patience. God’s incomparable word and unrivaled power transformed your frailty into adequacy, your shame into blessing and your impotence into strength. Your faith in God’s redemptive work has brought forgiveness for all your sins. You have received the heavenly gift of the Holy Spirit who is willing and able to teach you all things.

When in faith you are clinging to hope, you are living a life worthy of imitation so that others will desire to serve the living God and experience hope! You have a lively hope resting on the solemn promises of God. God is absolutely trustworthy! God’s words are reliable! God stands behind his promises.

You are a well watered, cultivated field capable of producing a bountiful harvest for God’s kingdom. Hope perseveres until there is a bountiful crop. Hope doesn’t allow thorns and thistles to choke out the life of the Spirit. Hope doesn’t grow weary in doing good.

Your quiet obedience, your love, your faithful service and your diligence to your vocation is strengthening and encouraging someone today who is becoming weary of being God’s child.

As you keep your fires burning, as you remain zealous to the very end, you are a motivation to persist in faith, hope and love so that we inherit what God has promised.

Approach God’s Throne of Grace

Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence,
so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. (Heb 4:16)

Your faith in Christ is a treasure beyond price! Your faith makes you fully alive as Jesus was, makes life worth living and provides an anchor for your soul. In the place where you live and work, commit to hold firmly to your faith with courage and boldness. May your confession of faith in Christ as Lord, be accompanied by obedience and generosity. Rejoice with thanksgiving for the indescribable gift of surpassing grace that God has blessed you with. Fix your eyes and thoughts on Jesus who won the victory over sin and through whom your redemption has been permanently accomplished. Enjoy the intimate relationship you have with God because of what Jesus has done.

When you fact temptation today, Jesus offers you the strength you need to resist. Jesus has been in the thick of life, he has seen it all and experienced it all – sickness, physical weakness, moral weakness, hatred, murder, greed, dishonesty, lust and every other sin in the book. Jesus understands the temptations which lead to doubt, despair, disobedience, lack of self-love and selfish preoccupation. Jesus has endured more temptation then you or I ever faced. Jesus kept on hanging in there resisting temptation until he defeated the tempter while we often give into temptation long before it is over.

Jesus isn’t standing aloof like a spectator watching you being tempted. Jesus isn’t exasperated over your sinfulness. Jesus didn’t come to condemn you but to save you. Jesus is constantly, gently inviting you to remain with him in the most holy place, at God’s throne of grace. At God’s throne of grace you will find a sanctuary even when it seems like you can’t find a safe place on earth. There you will always find the one who longs to help you gain the stability you need to stand firm and resist temptation. God, who is sitting on the throne of grace has authority, capability and resources beyond this world. In humble worship, with earnest prayers, at God’s throne of grace, confidently state your needs with honesty and childlike faith. At God’s throne of grace there is no need to be afraid … there you will hear the words “I do not condemn you – go and sin no more”.

At this moment, in faith continue to believe that:

  • You are God’s beloved child!
  • God is your refuge and strength – an ever present help in trouble!
  • God’s power is made perfect in weakness!
  • God’s grace is sufficient for you!
